I think personally if you go in expecting to see another super hero origin story, you'll be disappointed. Gotham is the story of a city. Sure, it centers around Bruce Wayne many times, but the main character boils down to being Gotham itself. How can such a city make such good people do such terrible things? Gotham is the story of how Bruce Wayne became Batman, Gotham is the story of how Jim Gordon became Jim Gordon, and Gotham is the story of how a city became a warzone through the wrong people at the wrong times. To sum it up, Gotham is a wonderful show, but not if you're expecting a show like The Flash or Arrow. It isn't a superhero origin story. It's a risky, raw, incredible work of art.
