Because of the lockdown, I’ve been watching quite a lot of old/classic Top Gear clips on YouTube, then that 1 episode from Season 4 of the Grand Tour, then stumbled accidentally onto a clip of Chris Harris, who I have never heard of, driving the Aston Martin DB11. Bottom line is, I think the BBC should just end the show, regardless of what the viewing figures say.
The show is still called Top Gear, has 3 hosts and kept the Stig, the Cool wall and the Reasonably Priced Car bit (I read that from somewhere), but Hammond, Clarkson and May would just speak their minds, sometimes about cars and sometimes about something completely random. Their opinions were so ridiculous, it was just uniquely entertaining (e.g. Vauxhall never produced an ugly car, there was Mr Slow arranging his wrenches, and Hamster’s obsession with American Muscle cars, which had cheap plastic).
In short, when I watched Top Gear, I wasn’t looking for an expert to educate me on cars I will never be able to afford, or 2 relatively well known celebrities trying to present a Car Show. To me, Top Gear was great because those 3 simplified the mechanics and soul of all sorts of cars/other vehicles. On top of that, they entertained us with their constant banter and bickering. And on that bombshell :), I am looking forward to the next episode of The Grand Tour!
