Peter and I were school chums back in 1961. We met up again after 55 years.
For a man with a great sense of humour Peter experienced the misfortune of having to work for several London local authorities. He finally made his escape some years ago. In his book he describes his experiences as a traveller to both Bulgaria and Egypt on separate occasions. Apart from some impressive historical background work, he describes humorously the behaviour of people, and particularly officialdom, he met on his travels. Having given up on British officialdom and its nauseating political correctness, Peter finds equally infuriating situations on his journeys to foreign parts. The book is full of highly amusing vignettes.
For the reader the discovery that it is humour that makes the world go round - not the machinations of humanity - is one of the most uplifting elements of this excellent book.
