Joey Sands

Historical drama with diversity and PLENTY of good acting (i spite the people that say that say the acting in this is bad). May not be entirely historically accurate but if I wanted accuracy, I would have watched a documentary. Some of the storylines do drag a little bit (the Spanish brothers) but overall generally interesting plot to get very invested in. Tenax and Cala are fantastically written characters and I absolutely must praise Jojo Macari for playing Domitian, he is phenomenal at playing the most irritating person to ever exist. I loved a lot of the fight scenes personally, though some I wish for better. Overall, this show eats (except Titus bc his character is so dry, he sucks)

My episode 1 review but instead it’s just me disputing all of the criticisms: • first point- a lot of people who seem to have problems with the pacing and the fact that’s it’s confusing but clearly don’t understand the whole point of the episode. You are following Steven in this journey. He is confused and frustrated because he doesn’t have any idea what is happening to him. That’s the reason everything is so erratic I imagine that what happened during those time loss sequences is something they will come back to later • second point- as a British person, I think Oscar Issac’s accent is great though I suppose it’s up to person interpretation • third point- it is not propaganda, it’s a show about a superhero. Get a life • fourth point- yeah some of the cgi wasn’t great but the majority looked amazing, especially near the end (can’t wait to see more of the suit)

I would personally say that I enjoyed the songs in this film and the general plot but I think the end was so rushed. They built up this whole conflict between Mirabel and Abuela throughout the film and then they ended up ruining it cause it was resolved in like 10 minutes. Alright film but a bit underwhelming in the end to be honest
