While there are a few moments where less would have meant much more, this clever piece of cinema lands the mark far more than it misses. I thoroughly enjoyed this little gem.

A painfully indulgent and hammed performance by Pike which unfortunately drags down the competent supporting cast. Even the respectful talents of Weis and Dinklage couldn’t salvage this movie from the over bearing and postured performance of its leading role. Quite painful to watch, would not recommend.

Removing the Gothic ash and brimstone characters of Dickens and replacing them with celebrity smiles was never a good idea. While this film has a notable stable of quality talent, it isn't enough to rescue it's vapid, vague and pretty interpretation. This indulgent and flowery translation of a masterful classic is heavily diluted, deep fried and sugar coated for the modern fast food palate.
