This movie is good, but in my opinion, these reviews on google are holding it far too high in regards. The plot overall is straight forward with really not much character depth at all. It's a fun watch, but it's not much for substance overall. In fact, by my measure, the narrative of the movie is how awful interpreters were treated by the Taliban after the US left Afghanistan, and how them not helping them exit to the states, how victimized they all ended up being. However, that isn't really put onto you much. It does get a small note in the middle of the movie where Jake Gyllenhaal is frantically calling people to try and find his missing friend. That never really seems what the movie is about. More like 'you scratched my back, I scratch yours.' It's only when the ending brings it up in the form of text that you realize that interpreters in general are the main focus of the movie. Overall, I'd say, even though it's a good movie, it's Guy Ritchie's worst movie, which is saying that even his worst of movies are still better than most others.
