When I first heard about this movie, I was immediately disgusted and shocked at its premise. Hearing rumors and talk about this film on the interweb had me concerned for my daughter's future. Seeing as she's only 7 years old and just starting elementary school, me and my wife were both worried about Jasmin being negatively influenced. However, I also heard online that Netflix's advertisement was contrary to the film's message. After the release of this movie on Netflix, I decided to sit down one night and give it a watch. Imagine my shock when I had discovered that this movie was not over sexualizing these young ladies but was in fact a full-blown masterpiece. In the first quarter of the movie, I was already in dire need of a new pair of undergarments. By the time the film was over, I was both physically and emotionally exhausted. Now that I have watched the film (alone in my basement with the doors locked) 5 times, I feel very confident in giving it this 5 start review. I very much anticipate director Maïmouna Doucouré's next hit film, "Fantastic boys and how to touch them".
