The movie was horrible. It began cute and ridiculous which was fine. The voice acting (english dub) is... Atrocious.
We get thrown into new character back stories in an abrupt manner and the characters are meaningless. All are pretty shallow as characters go.
Kids might be scared of it but adults won't enjoy.
It is ridiculous with little to no sense and a plot that is all over the place and the story was pointless in the end.
Spoiler alert down below. *~*
So Cape is the protagonist I guess and leaves the apartment after his father (Blanket) lies to Cape and tells him that his mother is in Peachtopia which is on a mountain he points at randomly.
(Mother fell from like 40 stories and died on impact.)
So human girl brings a female Macaw home and just lets it flap around her home with a window open wide. No bad happens. Cats don't try to kill and bird stays home.
Cape decides to watch some videos on a tablet and makes a rocket... Ridiculous but okay.
He is a cat inventor basically.
Now then, Blanket and a Macaw friend go to search for him.
There is a glass factory that Cape ends up going to and Blanket and Mac end up on a boat because a little girl caught a photo of the kitten paragliding to the mountain. Blanket and Mac have a "Finding Nemo" thing going on. Anyway Cape is at a glass factory but wears a glass bead around his neck that originated from the factory and apparently it is the key to finding Peachtopia.
Blah blah, kitten runs and hides, we are introduced to a gibbon? He helps kitten and then buggers off. Racoons chase Cape. A black cat saves Cape and takes him to a train on the top of the mountain that the cat is using as a bar. The cats there drink alcohol and chill. Raccoons are mobsters and want to find the kitten because their human overlord who has somehow trained the raccoons to speak English wants the glass bead.
Kitten hides and is safe and he goes onto talk about Peachtopia.
Lets just fast forward a lot. Kitten gets captured and thrown in a cage. The glass sculptures from the factory are made by putting live animals on a belt and having some putty like substance squash them. Some die, get crippled or go insane. Some crazy stuff happens.
A finding Nemo scene happens. Blanket and Mac see Cape "die" and thrown into an incinerator. Kitten somehow survived this despite being in a plastic bag. He tries to tell his dad he is alive but dad is captured and a master plan is made.
Eventually all the animals escape onto a glass submarine and black cat explains that glass maker man was his human and that he made the bead for his black cat. Cat leaves when human is starting to have problems and now human hates cats.
They get to Peachtopia through submarine. End up in a cave, but there is a huge and vast open hilly land which makes no sense as the mountain isn't big enough and in a movie with drones and tablets this huge open area has not been discovered despite having old buildings in it that have been reclaimed by plants.
The dialog was like insane. Blanket decides he is leaving his son here and is going home. Cape (who is fine that his dad lied about his mother) decides to leave and be a stray. They don't want paradise. Cape says something weird.
"You only saw her fall, mama might be alive and I might find her wherever I go" which doesn't make sense as human told Blanket the mother was dead...
All in all they made it to paradise only to decide "nah I should have stayed home/ gone somewhere else"
Black cat wants to set up a guard to stop people coming... What?
I feel more sorry for the owner of Blanket, Cape and Mac. But this all could have been avoided if only she shut the window and Blanket was upfront and told Cape "She passed away"
The characters spontaneously break into song and abruptly end the song.
It is pretty dark so maybe kids won't like it either.
