The fact that I could barely tell shadow from actor in the dismal darkness that was this movie is enough for me to say that I did not enjoy it a single bit. We tried everything from brightening the television to watching it in complete darkness. I understand wanting to create an aura of mystery, but the whole point of creating a movie is to ensure your viewer can actually SEE what is going on? I understand that horror movies are not all about jump scares (I LOVE horror movies and appreciate all sorts: see Hereditary, Midsommer and The Ritual), but I could not even feel sorry for the characters because there was absolutely no character development between all of them. Their relationship of Grandmother-Mother-Daughter was so disjointed that I could not connect with the characters guilt (if there was any I couldn’t even see it; too dark) or fears of dementia. No plot points. No storyline. Just a bunch of shadows running around in darkness. The only horror I got out of this is knowing I’ll never get the 90 minutes I wasted watching this movie back. Don’t waste your time.
