This book was a huge let down from the first. I found myself skimming chapters because they were extremely repetitive. The character development in the first book was excellent but this sequel had characters jumping all over the place with their character traits and sometimes I couldn't even tell who was speaking. It was an adequate first draft but needed another year of good editing and rewrites before publication.
The characters in the first book were compelling and interesting and the dragon/human bonds excellent. The dragon/human element is the only thing that carried into the second book. Also, I was very disappointed in the ending. Whether the author was aware or not, the ending (no spoilers) was almost word for word from another series written several years ago. Disappointing.
I hope for the final book in this series, more attention is paid to editing and character depth.
