The first Thing with James Arness was of the best with probably the scariest part being the hand of the monster on the table. Then came the Cameron version which was good but Kurt Russell was just too much and the Huskies were better! This version is set between the other two and while it shares too much CGI as did Cameron's, the story and actors are good.
