According to Dr. Sherbino’s book, I am a Christian "who comes to faith in later years not having being taught to pray in childhood; frequently learn the discipline of prayer by listening to their pastor lead the congregational prayers.” My case may be worse. The pattern I learned was four parts: calling Heavenly Father, giving thanks, telling your petitions, ending in the name of Jesus Christ. I never learned the ‘formula prayers’.
I only heard the term of ‘Praying the Scriptures’ about five to three years ago. However, I never obtained a chance to learn the details and how-to of ‘Praying the Scriptures’.
Before I read Dr. Sherbino’s book. My prayers had always been extemporaneous prayers. Slowly, my prayers had become routine, repetitive, boring, inanimate more and more. Quite a few times, I hated my own prayers!
I kept practicing Dr. Sherbino’s “Practical Guidelines in Praying the Scriptures” . Some astonishing changes happened! My prayers have become animate, vivid, energetic more and more! My soul has been restored via prayers! My spirit has been recharged! I have started to falling love in prayer! Now, prayers are not something I have to do by obligation. Praying times are my joyful times in my daily life. Every day, I pray 4 times: morning, mid-day, evening, and night.
