I don’t really play games much but I really enjoyed Warzone with my friends during the lockdown (enough to go on and buy the full game and play the multiplayer), and have massive nostalgia for the original Black Ops which I maintain is still the best CoD game. These two factors made me very excited for this game, I was expecting a Modern Warfare quality sequel to Black Ops.
The campaign was ok, the story was fine, albeit underdeveloped. There was some good action, interesting characters, locations and new features. But then it ended. The game simply wasn’t long enough to use the above mentioned features effectively. The missions themselves felt cut-and-paste and linear, with the twists and turns of the psychological aspects and player choice adding little to the experience; they felt predictable, nothing like the mind blowing revelations in the original Black Ops, which was a key reason why that campaign smacked so hard.
The multiplayer is slow and clunky. There’s barely any weapons, operators and skins. The maps are fine.
Zombies isn’t even zombies but some futuristic none sense with no atmosphere or feeling of survival during an apocalypse.
It was worth it to experience the campaign, I’m sure I’ll play it again at some point, but overall it’s underwhelming especially considering how great it would be if they used the possibilities of the game to its full extent.
