I finally saw this movie (after reading the novel, of course) and hated it! I'll take Twilight over this. Hell, I'll take the Hunger Games over this. I understand directors take some liberties but this was like "Well, not everyone even knows what this is so..."
[Spoilers included in my rant:] Small details that make the story and could've easily been worked in is what made me deapise this film. Where the hell was Sam? Her past with her parents could've literally been done to the letter and not taken up much time. One didn't get a good sense of how traumatic Thurmond was vs. the other camps. I hate that they changed Chubs into a green. I literally almost stopped watching when his eyes glowed green. Cate, Rob, and Lady Jane? I could care less what they looked like as long as they nailed their minor roles, which they didn't. Martin the Creep was nowhere in this, which ticked me off. Ruby and Clancy are NOT the last two oranges, they're supposed to be the last two SANE ones. Until Clancy shows his true nature that is. And that poser was made larger than life. Oh, and let's not forget how they neglected to work in what was special about him, making people into living concrete. Instead, he was on God Mode. The movie also didn't work in the letters. Ruby and Zu having that much control over their powers... And why change it from Yellows to Golds? There's other things too like Amandla's acting, the movie's complete and utter butchery of sweet Liam, etc. Don't go into this with high hopes. At all.
