If you are a true Cats fan then this will crush your hopes and dreams for this project being anything close to a good film adaptation. Losing its integrity completely the makers of this film decided to make changes not only to characters but songs too?! why would they do that? Hardly any of the cast were worthy of their parts in this film adaptation due to lack of acting skills as they decided to use big singers instead of big talent. I will however applaud Robert Fairchild's performance as Munkustrap, considering what he was given to work with i felt he stayed true to his character and sung the songs as they were written to be sung. They focused more on big names such as Jennifer Hudson who sang memory very well but nowhere near true to the character and how its supposed to be sung. The CGI was a big disappointment considering some effects we see in films today, the makeup in Cats 1998 was better and this is going back 21 years! This film was a big risk before it started and i could go into so much more detail but the changes to the characters and songs and lack of dedication to casting these important roles leaves me confident to say this film was a complete flop! Disappointment is how i would some this film up. Don’t bother watching it, Cats 1998 is still the better version, watch that instead and you will be 100% satisfied.
