Rude, inconsiderate, inhumane and arrogant. These are a few of the words I would use to describe the floor staff of the Kapil Sharma Show. The staff were very abrupt and brusque when dealing with the members of the audience. They forgot that if it wasn’t for these people, there would be no show. While the actual episode filming was hilarious and thoroughly enjoyable, the behaviour of the staff was despicable. There is difference between being HUMAN and being HUMANE. One example of this behaviour was denying people basic human rights such as to be able to go to the bathroom with a parent. The toilets were outside and in the dark. What parent would feel comfortable sending their daughter out there alone? However, one of the staff members forcibly stopped my mother from coming with me to the bathroom. Along with this, there were no designated breaks for meals or anything of the sort. Everyone in the audience knew they had agreed to staying for the entire 8 hours, however it is absolutely disgusting that they did not give any food breaks in that entire period. The staff however, took turns in having their meals, but during this time, no one notified the audience members that they could also eat and we were left seated and restless for over an hour with no idea as to when filming would begin again.
Another issue with the staff attitude was that they spoke in such a condescending, arrogant tone, belittling everyone and forcing them to obey or be kicked out. This abuse of power was dreadful to observe, especially since we are tourists from Sydney. We had brought gifts for some of the actors and asked if there could be a two minute window, even after the shooting when we could meet them. Instead of politely informing us that it was too difficult or impossible, the men simply snapped at us and told us that there was no way and not to mention it to anyone else. When we asked if there was a person of higher rank or a manager we could speak to and put our request to, Faroukh’s reply was unnecessarily obnoxious. The treatment we, as an audience, received from the staff was like we were animals who could be pushed around! So much for SK team ‘being human’! I believe that as a producer of this show, Salman Khan should know what is happening and how his team is flaunting their power and going against all the values and morals he stands for. As I said previously - there is a difference between being HUMAN and being HUMANE.
One rule that was made clear right from the start was that NO ONE was allowed to leave the set during filming and everyone was happy to oblige by that as it was simple commonsense. However, in the middle of filming, the man in charge of our section allowed three people to simply get up and walk out. When questioned about the reason for this, he stated, “they are not our guests so we can not control them” even though they had been marked with the same sign as everyone else. He even allowed the girl to use a mobile phone which was strictly prohibited! How can this be justified? Later on, after we were finally allowed to leave, we saw those same people exiting the area in which the actors’ vanities were. This shows just how unjust the system is as at the end of the day, it all boils down to who you know and what connections you have.
The way the staff treated everyone while we were exiting was another example of how unnecessarily rough and inhumane they were. They ordered us to leave my brother and father and wait somewhere else, and when we refused to be separated from our family, they only got angry and raised their voices. There was absolutely no respect or commonsense! When exiting the set, instead of going row by row so there would not be any disorder or lost people, they forced men to stay behind while women and children went first! What difference would it have made?
