A wonderful exploration of a militaristic utopia, with a very interesting philosophical take on the nature of civilisation. Its world-building is fantastic and more grounded than most sci-fi literature, focusing closer on the progress of humanity than the progress of technology. Ultimately it does fail a little when it tries to deeply explore the military dynamics, becoming more boring than you would expect in such a novel. Still definitely worth the read just for the unique ideas it presents. 4/5 stars.
