I want to preface this by saying that my score will probably not reflect your experience with the movie.
A big problem I had with the movie was the writing. I feel it’s pretty obvious that the lead writers have not really played video games and they’ve certainly not developed for them. Because of this The movie asks you to suspend your disbelief by a large amount. For me? I could still enjoy enough of this movie to have fun with it but I don’t think it was worth the cost of the ticket.
Spoilers ahead!
I feel like the main conflict in the movie would be a non issue in the real world. First in a lawsuit with a company, a lawyer would require access to the games code in order to prove that the software was or wasn’t stolen.
You could just turn off the power to the servers in order to destroy every character in the game without destroying the hardware that you could reuse for the 2nd game.
Purposely tanking your first game to make room for the sequel would cause you to lose all of your customers.
