Finally watched the Departed again as it turned 18 yrs old this yr! Well casted with nice performances from so many. An incredible few twists at the tail end too to watch for. A tad long in running time but then I tried to figure how to shorten from the 2 hrs and 30 mins and not sure if possible! Well directed start to finish and am glad I finally watched again for my 2nd time as I did not remember the entire story from so long ago, (yes 18 yrs ago when it was released). 8.5 of 10! Very close to a 9!

Comparing and contrasting the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie with the original 1988 version which I adore... Typically I do not like most sequels being released for no other reason than a Hollywood money grab and wished to dear god that the madness would one day end on so many reboots and so many sequels being released as of late! But this sequel was so worth it and I am glad they made a 2nd installment! (After all this time even!) Bob is a hoot and the movie presents so many new crazy dead characters. There was so much talk leading up on Keaton only having the same air time as the 1st one at about 17 mins but with the nice flow and the fun new story, and hilarious new characters, it seems like he is always present! Beetlejuice 1988: is a 9 out of 10 all day long and with no cgi and with its limited special effects to its time. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 2024: got a nice well deserved grade by me of a very solid 8.5! The sandworm guy really fit the cgi bill! At the movies it sometimes is difficult trying to tune out some of the other selfish, inconsiderate patrons who make way too much loud snacking noises and loud crinkles etc and or they yap far too much and such was the case tonight at Grand 10 for about the first 20% of the film! But this time I said to myself that I cannot change such idiots so I told myself to just try harder to tune them out and I did! Most movie going patrons are great and respectful but when a big movie comes out and the place fills up, I get stressed a bit leading up to start of movie knowing that numbers on idiots never lie! (Based on past experiences). Math is math and the more the theater fills up, the more chance on the "inconsiderates" showing up too! I am just one person who cannot just change the world to the good myself all alone, and I did what I knew best and that was to yell over at one point to nicely, yet firmly say: "quiet now, stop talking, movie ON!" That did seem to help this time a BIT! Just a bit! Apparently/allegedly I was the very first person in Kelowna BC to get this heavy duty, great condition popcorn bowl and it was the most expensive popcorn deal I had ever paid in my life at $37! That is what I was told as I arrived early and it was the first showing ever for this film. Typically I am much more frugal when it comes to snack buying! I guess I just had to have that collector's tub! 🙂 Still wrapped for now!

It has been a very long time since I first saw M.M. and today was my 2nd time. Very vivid and well kept on Blu-ray. A bit over the top on acting at times but there is not enough credit given to Roy Scheider who has been excellent in so many movies including this one. Spoiler alert...there is just no way to die that way at the end! Quite easy to drop a shank before falling down a full flight of stairs right? This lost marks. Still a solid 7 out of 10 as it stands.

Well scripted, well acted for the most part with some of the supporting cast a bit weaker and bit less believable. A worthy watch though and fun start to finish. Some parts were easy to predict though but still a very solid 8.

New Twister entry, (Twisters), was just ok. TOO much CGI reliance and that takes away from the reality of these natural paths of destruction. I will never be a fan of over used CGI. The beginning set of actors were weak and they tried to be just as silly as the originals from the 1996 entry and that did not work or fly. That original cast as it was would have benefited from going back to actor's school and so should have most of this new cast. Glen Powell was cool beans though. And the country song choices worked. 5.5 out of 10.

On the brink of the release of the new Twisters movie and my seeing it this coming Sun as planned, I finally watched Twister again and for only my 3rd time ever. The 1st time being in 1996 when I was living in Calgary. Some very nice song choices in Humans Being by Halen and etc and some terrific special effects for its time but so many of the supporting actor roles were just quite weak. Overall Twister is quite enjoyable still but I still give this one about a 6.5/7 out of 10 based on some poor directing moments and decisions as the movie went along. One scene clearly showed it being quite dark out and then only a few mere seconds later it became much lighter out and etc. These are both bad directing and bad editing flaws.

Wow! Those who gave this a 1 or 2 star rating only do not know what a good movie is! They are probably only Marvel and DC fans and believe in only CGI to lead the way and do not believe in a good story! They were probably just on the cells too not paying attention fully like so many of today! This movie was interesting start to finish and well written and well directed. There was just one small scene that was weird when the camera person did not hold the camera still for about 4 full seconds and in a non action part of the film. The kitty guy was only awesome! He was such a trooper ninja! His silence lead the way! I thoroughly enjoyed this and unlike the few who probably do not like any movie other than Marvel or DC, this movie is very watch worthy! GO SEE IT! 8 out of 10.

2016 was a tough yr for me so this gem slipped by somehow and I finally watched this! I did not realize how good the team was of Jonah and a young Miles Teller or I would have gotten to this one much sooner! Terrific performances and very well directed! Based on a true story as well and with comic elements in place too! Quite enjoyable!

Not sure why some so called critics did not like this movie when so many terrible movies have been quickly thrown together since 2020! This movie has nice connections and wow you never see the twists and turns coming and there are quite a few of them! Yes Ben Foster could have been a bit stronger like he was in Hell or High Water but he still was pretty good. Toby Wallace has grown into quite the good actor and was strong throughout. Tommy Lee Jones at 77 yrs old also delivered. This is a worthy watch!

23 years. 23 years ago Zoolander was released. (2001). Maybe hard for some to imagine it was that long ago. It was during my Blockbuster years while I worked there that this was a big renter on dvd. I barely remembered it as I watched finally again tonight for just my 2nd time. I am now not sure why this was such a hit. Unless many took acid etc before watching. This I must say is almost the silliest movie ever, of all times. Good chemistry though between Ben and his dad Jerry and between him and Owen. Interesting this movie was to say the very least and Will Ferrell is as usual the shining star. Like he was in so many movies back then like Old School which is much, MUCH better. Still, Zoolander made me laugh about 3 times so to that I cannot grade lower than a 5 out of 10. This will though be my last time seeing this and will not bother with the sequel which was made many yrs after. (15 yrs later). At least too it was only an hr and 30 mins in running time, thankfully.
