An adaptation that wandered a little too far from the books, missing out characters and changing story lines. However if you keep telling yourself it's only using the books for inspiration and that it is entirely a different entity it's a fairly entertaining but slightly confusing watch. The real problem that to understand it you need to have read the books but then you run the risk of being less than satisfied with the programme
