I hear Americans saying "Thank you for your service" and it sounds overly sentimental and false. However, this film made me realise the depth of gratitude owed to those who put themselves at risk for others and the personal havoc they can be left with. It makes you feel and think.

This great portrayal made me, as a non-American white person, squirm with mental discomfort while seeing the narrow minded endemic bigotry against women, black people, and Russians that existed in the U.S.A. during my lifetime.
