I wanted to love this first book so badly, and there’s definitely a lot to like, but I feel like the ending was a let down. Pros: Beautiful descriptors Fast paced storytelling Twists that are hard to predict Cons I don’t feel anything for any of the side characters The romance/love interest felt too rushed or forced. I would have preferred more scenes in the novel that built their relationship, rather than Scarlett just being told lie after lie. The main characters sister, Tella, is the biggest most annoying brat who is extremely conceited and I don’t understand why anyone would like her. The ending was a joke, and I honestly don’t understand how Scarlett could just be fine with how everything happened.
