KAALA is not a film, it is an experience... a dialogue. Kaala brings with it multiple shades of gray, white, blue, green, yellow, brown, red... A brilliant film that shows how people's aspirations are not counted in the modern development model. It should be what the people want, not what we 'think' they want. Kaala is a beautiful and powerful metaphor to talk about the pain and power of the urban poor, the so-called lower castes, the minorities and the oppressed masses. MUST watch multiple times!

Trust Rajkumar Santoshi to deal a sensitive issue so brilliantly. Meenakshi Seshadri's grace and grit, Rishi Kapoor's warm hearted weak-willed son-husband, Sunny Deol's frustrated & honest, Amrish Puri's real, corrupt character portrayals were simply memorable. Although serious and painful to watch, it has re-watchable value even today.
