If I had randomly stumbled across this film on Netflix I’d have probably considered it an odd but reasonably interesting watch. But the fact that it received near universal acclaim and wound up on multiple 2020 top 10 lists is absolutely baffling. The first 30 minutes was like watching paint dry. The editing and direction are often aimless. Just when the plot starts to get interesting it collapses. The ending had me audibly exclaim “that’s it!?”
It’s also shot in 4:3, a bizarre choice that gives the film a cheap, unprofessional look.
