This was total garbage. Characters are underdeveloped (you don’t even learn their names) and SO stereotypical and cringeworthy (the artist has dreadlocks, an earring, a soul patch, and head-to-toe tattoos… the “homeless” man wearing an expensive watch and speaking entirely in poetic jargon is *astonishingly* not homeless).
The writing is unbearable to get through. It sounds like a kid was given the assignment to write an inspirational fiction novel, and this was the result. Rather than incorporating descriptive imagery, he used strange ethnic analogies that made no sense (“thick rubber soles, like the kinds Australians wear,” or another example“…wearing his fashionable shades, the kind the in-the-know Romans sport in their effortlessly stylish way that displays an “I don’t try too hard to look this phenomenally cool” kind of attitude”). Instead of the author creating content worth quoting, he jam packed famous quotes into the unrealistic dialogue of characters on every page. The inspirational quotes had the opposite effect, and I fell asleep twice while reading.
I was half way through chapter 4 when I decided to look up reviews on whether the book was worth continuing. I’m frustrated that I wasted money and time on this useless piece of literature.
The point of the book is literally the title. Wake up at 5 am. Work hard. Unfortunately, the depth of the book stops at the cover.
