Storyline: Poor:
Predictable and full of plot holes. Carbon copy of better films of the type (The Rite, The Last Exorcism etc). Feels like it was written by someone who can't understand that horror is more than just cheap "jump scares" as there is no atmosphere, suspense or any feeling of actual fear here.
Characters: Unremarkableat best offensive at worst:
Female protagonist initially looks like she might be strong, independant and interesting but this dies a death before long.
Male deuteragonist the stock godly man who has to be the one to save the "poor, helpless female" everytime she so much as the power goes out...yes, this actually happens.
Soundtrack: Unremarkable:
Did not build any atmosphere whatsoever.
Final Thoughts:
Yet another "horror" film pandering to the Christian faith. I won't spoil the "plot", if you can call it that, but if you have seen any other occult/exorcism based film you should know what to expect.
It would be nice once in a while if we could actually have a film showing the real horrors of misplaced faith in religion and where practitioners of the occult/demons are not portrayed to be the epitome of evil. It would also be nice if we could find a film made by people who actually research the subject matter beyond a quick Google search.
Honestly, I am amazed that I managed to actually sit through this. It was boring at best and offensive at worst.
