Visually very nice. Bowls along without dwelling too much on long drawn out scenes, which is a refreshing change from a lot of the stuff on Netflix. Slightly surprised that so many self confessed 'chess lovers' seem to give this poor points on the grounds that the main character is OTT, especailly when you consider Bobby Fischer or Mickail Tal and many chess players around that time were very OTT characters. Mainly I think Russian trolls will especially dislike this film, as the USSR team/delegates are portrayed as typically deceitful 'evil reds', and there is also a reference about how the USSR and Red Army behaved when they 'liberated' Warsaw towards the end of ww2, which would be, understandably, rather uncomfortable things to be reminded about. But the film is genuinely good quality watching.
