I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was ahead of its time and led to some good spin-off series, but never as good as the original. Joss Whedon knew exactly how to balance the comedic undertones with drama.

Retro horror done better. And funny. Brittany Snow was classic.

20+ years after it first aired I still rate it as one of the best TV series I have ever seen. Before they made this series they broke the mould. A lot of series copied and borrowed from this one but few if any have reached it's heights.

A slow dark potboiler in the Western genre but set in the Australian outback. It reminded me of the classic Bad Day at Black Rock. Aaron Pederson is great as the brooding cop/detective and Jackie Weaver is at her charming and sinister best. Superb cinematography captured the desolate vastness of the red centre with some great arial shots.

Very well written and well cast especially Margot Robbie as Tonya and Allison Janney as her mum. Some humorous moments but not overdone.

I stumbled across Harrow on ABC tv. Initially wondered how they lured Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd over to Australia to do the series. After a couple of episodes I saw why. It is really well written and directed and has a good mixture of drama and humour. Gruffudd and the rest of the cast are superb.

I really enjoyed this movie. Perhaps a bit corny in parts but there was a lot to like about it. The two lead roles were played with enough realism to bring you into their world. The growing friendship between the two men was handled with subtlety. The racism of the times was presented in a measured way allowing the viewer to respond accordingly.
