I thought this was a great movie. Characters and circumstances were so relatable. Disco music represents earlier times in her life. She is dealing with being an empty nester, wanting love in her life, but wanting to maintain her sense of self. Figuring out who she is authentically. I think the ending means she accepts her circumstances, as tough as some of her experiences are, and that she'll be ok just being her, with or without love. Julianne Moore was stunning as this character. A movie about the complicated dynamics of family and the people you let in. Or don't.
