I’m truly gobsmacked that there’s positive reviews out there for this film. Seriously?
Movie was marketed as a horror thriller, in its trailer, with lots of creepy shots, energy and jump scares of paintings coming to life.
Totally misleading.
What you get instead; 2 hours trying to understand plenty of plot holes, S-L-O-W progress and character development one couldn’t give two ducks about AND THEN finally 15mins of horror thriller content scattered here and there through the film.
If you want an energetic horror/thriller, Don’t waste your time. This movie is a joke in that respect and I’m usually pretty tolerant when it comes to horror.
John Malkovich has been placed in here simply to sell the film, you could take him out and you’d literally lose nothing.
I watched it with 5 other people and we all agreed the same.
Don’t get me wrong, the actors do an awesome job with what they have and there are gold horror nuggets in here, but Netflix reeeeally doesn’t utilise them to their full potential and it’s disappointing.
However if you like slow movies that are more ‘dramas’, please, don’t let me stop you.
