Have always been huge Paul Blackthorn fan. Really like (most of) the cast and premise. BUT am sick to death of horrible fake Southern accents, purportedly Texan in this case. "Ed Roven's" accent exists nowhere in Texas or anywhere else, and is so irritatingly and jarringly fake that it ruins the fun of the whole show.
For God's sake, hire a real Southerner or make the part match the actor - in this case a guy from Chicago.
What is the deal with Hollywood and accents? A lot of times, as with Paul Blackthorn (and Holly Hunter, James Garner, Kathy Bates, to name just a few), the NATURAL accent is a huge attraction.
So change the damned story to accommodate the actor's inability to fake a good accent, or hire a native speaker! Texas has a lot of folks - there's bound to be a few who look rugged, can act, and would be delighted to send some time in the Pacific Northwest for as long as this show lasts.
So I want to be a fan but the irritation factor is just too high.
