"Subverting expectations" by making the game unenjoyable from the plot point standard, doing a disservice to the entirety of TLOU 1 that was written by leagues more competent writers and doing all of that to pander to people that don't even play videogames is exactly how not to make a videogame, let alone a huge budget project that is supposed to be the killer app of the generation. Even ignoring all of that, which is absolutely impossible due to the game being a narrative heavy cinematic experience (a yet another slow paced 3rd person action-adventure with "realistic graphics, which is precisely the only type of games all in-house Playstation studios can ever make, it seems), the gameplay is also worse than TLOU 1 at times. I would like to see how far Sony's reach extends when The Game Awards 2020 comes around and TLOU 2 magically gets a GOTY 2020 award because the fans' opinions never matter to them either.
