If you enjoyed the books, DON’T watch this show. It will just make you sad. Aside from its deviation from the themes, characters, and plot of the novel it’s based on: The dialogue is horribly awkward, the sfx are on par with a student film, and several key plot elements are missing, replacing with random nonsense that’s trying way too hard to be quirky (tetherball?). The things that TLS made us love about the characters has been stripped away, the same with the set, and the stakes. I really enjoy the books and was really looking forward to this show, it was highly disappointing.
