School Dazed touched on every aspect a black adult, male or female, had to contend with amongst their own in institutions of higher learning. In 1988 the struggle to find ones identity was integral and HBCU’s stood in the center of relevancy. The “over the topness” of the various groups shed light to how important belonging was to black students. So, when watching in 2021 please roll back time to have a better perspective of the dominant themes throughout the movie.
