Chinese Mafia comedy but from American POV. Lots of stereotypes and cringy script. Bruce who can read the full list of names in complex Chinese words but can't speak mandarin just doesn't make any sense. Taiwanese gangsters but they speak perfect American English acting like childish teenagers. And the US would have been the last place that all the top Chinese gang leaders would choose to congregate. All the characters are too polished for a gangster drama. Entertaining if you don't read too much into the characters and plot.

I have watched many historical dramas and this one sits at the top, the best I've ever watched. 70 episodes seemed like a huge commitment of your time to undertake but Chinese dramas, unlike the American ones, do not split their shows into Season 1, Season 2, and so forth. The dialogues are lyrical with a lot of hidden sarcasm and insinuations. Superb acting by every actor (esp the King, his eunuch, headmaster Xin & Feng Zhiwei). I didn't like Chen Kun's acting, he tried too hard that it looked exaggerated and theatrical. The chemistry between the two main casts Chen Kun & Ni Ni was off the charts. Although I really hate the ending, it was poetic. However, I did not like the last 20 episodes especially with Feng Zhiwei's brother, it just didn't make sense.
