I loved this game, have completed it, but still loads to find. Sooo many easter eggs, as well as the obvious eggs, to find and collect. One of my favourite aspects of Animal Well, is that it does literally ZERO hand-holding. Not many games are brave enough to do this, and I spent much of my first few hours thinking "What the hell am I even doing?" I love a Metroidvania, but this one is much more of a puzzler than most and you can tell that an awful lot of love and time has gone into the level design, item pickups and the puzzles. It's such a perfect little gem of a game!

Although a remake of the original Gameboy version, this is well worth playing as they've changed it up a bit to make it a bit easier to play, but not in a way that ruins the challenge... It just takes away some of the frustration of the original. The visuals are beautiful, it feels quite engrossing, like you're really exploring these unknown sci-fi tunnels, rich environments and shooting weird alien creatures. The 3d effect on the 3ds is also noteworthy, it really sells the depth of the backdrops, which are always varied and interesting to look at. One thing I have to recommend, as someone did to me, is to wear headphones while playing this one. The audio design, special effects and music is absolutely on point. A definite buy, even for an older system like the 3ds... Why not grab it while we wait for a Switch Metroid game?
