I will say that indian audience were not ready for this movie at that time b'coz of our conservative upbringing, which is changing nowdays (thanks to the ott platforms). I feel that all the ott platforms like Netflix and prime video got Indian's connected to the western culture and moreover they helped us to change our mindsets. Honestly ,if I have seen this movie back in 2010 as a bollywood fan who mostly watches hindi language movies i also kinda resisted to like it because of the international flavour in this film . But nowadays mostly people watches international series and movies so they can really connect to the movie and enjoy it's emotions which is hard for a person who watched it 10 years ago, and I think that's the reason it was a flop in India but was pretty successful internationally. I agree to the fact that this was a GREAT GREAT movie which was realised in wrong era and was presented to wrong audience.
Anurag Basu did a fantastic job the shots were amazing and cinematography was perfect. All the songs were magical and not only were connecting with the audience but also the movie was going forward with each song which we oftenly don't see in a bollywood movie. The most beautiful part of the movie was Hrithik and Barbara's chemistry it was sooooooo beautiful , the love between them was soo pure and I felt like a real connection between them . Hrithik was as usual exceptional so I am not gonna talk much about him, he does what he does bring the character alive. And Barabra she was so beautiful in the movie and her gorgeous smile will blow your heart away for sure and her acting was also right top of the mark matching the level of Hrithik . Just watch it once and you will be amzed by the chemistry of both of them. THEIR CHEMISTRY WAS THE HEART OF THE MOVIE FOR SURE.
