I hardly know where to begin. I, like others I am sure, was pulled in being a Kristen Wiig fan. Then there’s the plethora of colorful costumes and the expensively, overdecorated interiors popular of the period (1969) that holds one’s interest. The storyline basically involves people with money, trying to hold on to it, those without trying to get it. A bunch of random people running around going nowhere. Kirsten‘s character Was somewhat sympathetic, then even she became annoying. The under-dog gay character is the only decent human being in the bunch. The writing is trite and unamusing. I kept watching thinking surely there would be a point to it all…there wasn’t!

Bradley Cooper gave a breathtaking, extraordinary performance. I couldn’t take my eyes away from all the subtle nuisances he brought to the character, this while directing. Bravo! The look of the film was exciting, with unexpected transitions in the story telling, the earlier timeline was shot in black and white, lending an authentic feel to the period. One cannot overlook Carey Mulligans amazing impact on the film, she has a special way of illuminating everything and everyone around her. Movie magic!

Viola Davis’ strange depiction of Michelle Obama drove me CRAZY!!! Ms. Davis is a great actress but she botched this part BADLY. The mouth distortions was horrific. It was so distracting and STRANGE. I can’t even understand how it got passed the director and producers….it’s a total mystery. The rest of the casting was spot on, including the actor portraying President Obama…Amazing!

One of my all time favorite films! Magical!

What rewards? This film moved like a sloth. Young Tinton was just plain dull to watch.
