This game potential to be really good but currently it is disappointing. I've been playing since dream cast 2k...my favorite was 2k11. I buy the game every year. I really enjoyed 2k20 and was looking forward to 2k21....the 1st few days was brutal. Shooting was next to impossible and I tried learning the new mechanics but it just felt too complex for a simple fundamental thing....If i need to shoot I should just do that...it's not that simple in 2k21. I understand they want a skill gap to separate casuals and hardcore players but I think they need to find a balance because not every person that wants to play is looking to feel forced into a competitive mentality. Develops have to remember we play these games to have fun at first. If they want to introduce a more comp like style of game play then do it like they do in other games like over watch where there is an arcade mode with a more casual experience for the game modes and then there is season where players will play more meta and competitive. Settings can be adjusted for arcade and competitive and it will allow the user to pick what kind of experience they want to have not force it down our throats.
After many complaints to the shooting,They released a hot fix and shooting is better. My Career story is actually better this year compared to previous 2ks...My only complain is that after finishing the prelude, I was looking forward to the new cut scenes, pre game post game stuff. After 3 games and nothing came up, I come to the conclusion that there is literally nothing. All you mainly get is a message from your agent and that's it. No events so meetings no pre games or post game. You just play the game and grind to get your attributes and badges up. The game play is good but there are bugs...I notice at times players sliding and transition is little to non existent, the dribbling is much more smoother but i can't for the life of me get an ankle broken it's like it doesn't exist period (sucks for anyone grinding to get that badge to HOF)
Chemistry in My career is weird...in 2k20 you can increase or decrease it based on interviews you get but with none in the game, I honestly don't know how to increase team chemistry (I'm stuck at 60%)....There's a lot more bugs but I'm sure if you visit the social media sites for 2k community, you'll see the topics.
Overall I want to enjoy 2k21 and I like how the park looks at the beach and the game play is solid but with some of the bugs and lack of content from my career, it feels that the development team decided to put whatever they can together and I'm assuming they saving all the good stuff for next gen. If so...then it was wrong to price the game at $60....I guess if you brought the mamba edition ($100) you get the next gen of 2k21 as well when it releases. However if it's anything like current gen (which I hope not and I doubt it but who knows...) then avoid 2k21 at all cost. Best to just wait and see how next gen is before purchasing...i would not recommend 2k21 as of right now. Stick to 2k20.
