Strong opening scene. Strong ending scene. Everything in the middle was meh.
So predictable it hurt. Josephine, who plays the heroine Tessa, was holding this movie together all by herself. She was delightful to watch. I couldn’t tell if her co-star could act because they gave him absolutely no character development. I’d love to see him in something else. Poor fellow, good thing he was good looking and British...
It seems like they picked every trope and cliche they could possibly find for a teenage romance movie, filmed it all separately, and then showed us a slideshow of moments. The writing didn’t hold up throughout and the scenes weren’t stitched together well at all. It had the potential to be a coming of age sexual revelation tale. At least that’s what they made it out to be. Seedy and sexy. It was none of these things.
I will say most of the actors and the college vibe in the first few scenes was spot on. AFTER that though, it really fell off the rails as a C - effort.
