A timely metaphor of how the evangelical movement got sidetracked by a deviant misanthrope. The arguments made during the sermons echoed similar themes made over the past decade or so by religious leaders selling the “rapture”. Of course, while watching this series the news of widespread pedophilia on the part of the French Catholic Church came out. Can the church as we knew it renew itself or do we need a cleansing fire like in the movie?
