I didn't find this film either engaging or enjoyable. I put it on as i am a fan of Rosamund Pike, and have enjoyed all the films of hers i have seen, apart from The Wheel of Time, which i barely got through the first part of, and didn't bother to watch again or try part two I have left few reviews, but commented that TWoT (ironic acronym?) was 'a load of grollocks'. Viewers will understand.
Getting back to 'Saltburn', i found my mind wandering, and kept the film on (watching on Amazon Prime, not in a paid cinema, thank goodness) while reading the one and two star reviews (not the arty 'isn't it all wonderful/symbolic/redolent of.. greek tragedy/ Mr Ripley,/Brideshead/other pretentious bs) for realistic opinions. They bore out what a nonesensical waste of acting talent/two hours plus film time this strange offering was. Luckily, having heard Danny Kaye's song 'The Emperors New Clothes' early in my life, i am not mesmerised by the 'majority' view. To see an example how people follow the herd easily, watch footage of Hitler's Nuremberg Rallies of the 1930's. Humans as acquiescent sheep. But back to the film, luckily my lack of attention spared me disgust, shock or trauma at the supposed disturbing scenes (of which there seemed to be an excess of). I feel sorry for the actors. This nonsense of a film is of no credit to them.
