Without question, 1 Angry Black Man is outstanding and enlightening. It calls upon the viewer’s critical thinking skills from beginning to end. The film’s content is inspiring and will no doubt move future generations to study more in-depth works of African American literature. Also, it encourages the reading of comparative classical and modern American literature.
1 Angry Black Man brings to the forefront a short list of African
American writers who need to be recognized for their brilliant cinematic discussion of two key aspects of African American cultural identity: the will to survive against all odds, and to thrive despite oppressive social barriers. I greatly anticipate watching this distinctive work yet again.
