I purchased a physical copy on day one but have since sold my copy for a small loss because it's clearly going to take a long, long time to bring the game upto minimum levels of acceptability, so I may as well just wait and (potentially) rebuy it later when it's much cheaper...but given Simteract's less than adequate reputation for abandoning their projects (Train Life anyone?) I don't really hold much hope for Taxi Life ever reaching it's true potential.
Plus, the lack of any wheel support for X|S is a bit of a kick in the teeth when you consider the fact that up until a month before launch it was promised - so again, you simply cannot take Simteract's 'going forward' intentions with any level of credibility.
The only real positive I could find was that the small area of Barcelona they replicated (appx 4x3 miles) does look quite nice. Granted, detail draw distances are not great and there is a substantial amount of pop-in (vehicles and buildings) but the overall visual quality isn't half bad for a mid-priced game.
Look, Taxi Life is initially quite playable to a certain degree but there will come a time when you get completely fed up with the overall quality of gameplay and it will be only then that you start to question the value of your purchase (which will be non-refundable if it's a digital copy) so it's entirely upto you if you think it's worth the risk.
Me? I got around 4 hours into Taxi Life before realising I'd made a huge mistake.
