It’s ok. Ok some peeps are saying it’s quite an unbelievable apocalyptic movie and they are correct it is. It’s not the worst it’s not the best and it could have been so much better. Spoilers: The weird werewolf / alien type big foot creatures are at times a bit comical and it takes from the realism the film is going for. The writing could have been stronger (understatement of the year) and they could have done more interesting things with the set up. I don’t think it was horrible personally and I’ve seen a lot worst movies. If I’m being nice I would rate it 7/10 which I felt about it. If I was being mean I would give it 6/10. So it’s probably a 6.5/10. It’s an ok or slightly above average horror / apocalyptic movie that is quite daring in many places. It’s what you would expect from Nick Cage it’s never below a 5 and never exceeds an 8. It’s an ok movie worth a watch if your a fan of the genre I feel. Oh the music is pretty cool / the soundtrack isn’t lame, it’s pretty decent and it adds well to the movie quality. On the negative it’s weak writing with ‘I’ve seen before’ qualities everywhere you turn. Also I agree with the other reviews that the scene (spoilers) where they got the young lad in the barn and wanted to teach him a lesson by attempting to kneecap him with a shotgun was a bit extreme and extremely unrealistic I don’t think they would have done that given the survival circumstances. To add even more unrealism to that scene the young lad in question was working hard on Rose farm and I imagine the other farm hands / others would have been grateful for that and would have liked the lad not hated him, which the movie unrealistically portrays. Also when he was caught ‘stealing’ the gaffer of the farm I imagine in real life terms would have had a say on his punishment and he was never told … they kinda took the law (the farm hands) into there own hands so to speak and they wouldn’t have risked that without running it past the main farmer / the gaffer. Also on a side note the white mother of rose farm and the coloured gentleman farmer have a white daughter.. sorry but in the words of Kat Williams - ‘pull the other one Im a mutha F grown man n***” lol 😂 Unless the farmer gaffer male was her stepdad …. Ignore the woke and you will get through this. 🤔🙄 👍☺️

It’s about 7/10. Yes, I agree with some of the more the negative reviews it could have been way way better … I know what you are saying and I feel your pain. I do sincerely. However. Even though it irritated me a little in the way it lacked quite a bit of depth and detail. The other thing that bothered me a bit was the focus on far too much (understatement) surrounding the love life between Napoleon and Josephine. The overall run time didn’t really need to be this long, in essence of the actual message the movie attempts to project from itself. The movie wastes and doesn’t value your time in some respects I feel. This will garner hate with some critics. Still with all that said, it’s still pretty damn good war movie! I loved the grittiness / the gore / the grotty time period. The sadness, the ego, the vengefulness, the greed and a whole lot more. The movie projects these traits & qualities of human nature very well, with the battle scenes being executed reasonably well exuding the terror and sacrifice as they capture the dread and fear inducing despair (of the troops and the time period) remarkably well. But …Yes…. It could have been so much more… I think by comparison with real life - think saving private Ryan level - it could have been epic. It could have been a 9-10/10 easily. But it was a 6/7 dare I say 7.5/8. No more than this. Regarding ratings (just in my opinion) 8 is being too generous. 5 would be too harsh, 6 is a bit evil. It was a snippet of a movie compared to his life and what he achieved and probably the actual battles that took place. I wasn’t at the battle of Waterloo (surprisingly 😂) but speaking as an ex military person I imagine to capture that on a movie set would be ridiculously difficult unless we are to be whisked off to CGI land extraordinaire. The movie isn’t anywhere near as epic or as real true to life as it would have taken place in real life. This movie by Ridley Scott (big fan btw) doesn’t show the sheer magnitude very well as if would have been. You get a glimpse and a live story here thrown in with a good helping of boring side politics (just my opinion). I feel I’m playing the old call of duty here (no check that - Medal of honour games) and I now am ready to be a soldier and fight in wars, it’s a bit like that. It’s a bit shallow, the story has bits inaccurate and missing. They could have focused more on building out the battles a bit more (larger forces at play here in truth than what the movie does show) and maybe focusing in on the more famous generals, commanders and the aristocracy / royals of the time - they only touched on this. The real history would have been a whole lot more terrifying / potent and intersting. The film portrays about 30% of it and some will say 10% 😂 But overall if you go in thinking ‘I want to be entertained’ you will be…. Albeit rather mildly with some better bits here and there. It’s that sort of movie. Dare I say it bored me in some places and I found myself googling the real historic events which wowed me a bit more and as a refresher in between movie scenes which probably means I lacked a bit of interest. My rating 7/10 and that’s being rather generous I feel. And I say the 7/10 as a huge Ridley Scott fan, a huge fan of history and historically depicted movies. People will be arguing the inaccuracies I fear in this one for a while to come…..

It's a weird one this film. This review pretty much summed it up. See below after my review. It's trying to be a new age deep movie I think with some hidden meaning. It's actually a pointless movie with zero story. It has some good set up, ambiance, music is good with some good effects and cinematography. Other than that there is nothing and it's completely naff. See this guys review below for those that won't claw anything at all out of it which will be the majority of people. It's a shame because it's such a wasted opportunity. It's like being thirsty for a drink and instead of pouring a glass of water you set a sponge into a bowl and wring it out across multiple bowels just for a small mouthful. Pointless..... utterly pointless and a waste. The other guys review which will be accurate for the majority of people watching this: "You get to listen to an egg timer for an hour and a half Thats it". "A man in a house in a forest". "Something about a virus". "Then just an egg timer for the rest of the film going off every minute or two". "Atrociously bad". "Stay away at all costs". "The only way it could be worse if it was a baby crying for the rest of the film instead of the egg timer". "If it was any slower paced it would have been dead on arrival. If it was any more pointless it would be a beach ball". "Someone should have slapped the director/writer in the face early on". "Who would want to listen to an egg timer go off every minute for an hour and a half?" "Its incredible. So bad its unbelievable, might go down in history as the next 'The Room' - but far far more annoying."

‘I’am Legend meets the village’ This time they dropped Will Smith in favour of the female protagonist Halle Berry who knocks it out of the park. I don’t get why so many negative reviews ? I know people are directly cut down the middle on this movie (I did notice all the 5 and 1 star reviews were fairly equal with some unsure at 2/3/4) but I thought this was a great movie. Definitely one of the better horror movies to come out recently and I’m one of those original 80’s movies buffs whose seem every horror movie (nearly every one). Halle Berry knocks it out of the park it was awesome to see a comeback for her. She shows what a good movie actress should be doing on the horror scene. Take notes from HB to any aspiring horror movies actors / actresses 👍what a great performance. I thought the dog scene (no spoilers) was a bit extreme but added a bit of tension to an already tension fuelled thrill ride. I was honestly caught between an 8 and a 9 for this movie (8.5 then 😃👍). Some really good original writing. It’s creepy as F and it gets under your skin. It plays on creepy things when you were a kid - creepy woods / snakes / unknown demonic forces etc. I think some may watch it and find it a bit daft, silly and a bit too much out there / far fetched. However if you revert back to your child like imagination you can indulge in this guilty pleasure of a horror gem. Would recommend but probably only to certain members of my friends and family and some may find it a bit too out there and unbelievable. Can’t believe that IMDB and RT only gave it 5-5.5/10 I thought it would have at least been a 7. Anyway if your into your horror and you had weird nightmares / night terrors like I did as I kid, it may bring some of those memories flooding back. I would say it’s a good / excellent movie overall for this type of genre, with plenty of imagination. Excellent 👍👍😃

I watched the first original beetlejuice (being born in 1982) when I was a boy. It was a magical, fascinating creepy experience that stuck with me and others all my life. Obviously being young movies of this nature tend to resonate with you a lot more of course. I watched this when it first came out at the cinemas 30+ years later with my 3 daughters (all being teens now and well versed in my Movie culture as per me dad!) and we had mixed ratings across the board. My eldest at 24 gave it a 9/10. My middle one (the super skeptic!) gave it a 6/10 My youngest actually the biggest fan of the original gave it a 8/10, with yours truly giving it a 7/10. It was good to be fair but it depends how you go into it. If you go into it thinking 🤔 you want the slight seriousness of the first one, you will be slightly disappointed as this is about as off the wall as a movie could be (a bit like blazing saddles or naked gun off the wall almost!) but it had some nice lore in this one regarding our favourite protagonist Mike Keaton - who knocks it out of the park amazingly well! - But if you go into it light hearted and thinking it will be a joke a minute your in for a treat. It’s a bit slow to start but when Mike takes the Mic he steals the show and he does a fine job. Well done burton another great movie albeit I feel the passionate flame has simmered out with this one a little from your glory days of old.

I have seen every single movie in the known universe since 1980. Im a massive horror fan, I was even more so in my youth. So I just wanted to let you know a little background of my movie goer experience, just so you know I’m not a 12 to 30 year old with very little past movie experience. In my opinion this movie is a 5/10 and that is being generous. It isn’t by far the worst movie I have ever seen. 😃 However I have seen a hundred movies that are better than this. 😏 The thing that got me apart from the poor script writing and predictability, is how literal the card demons translated to the action. They could have done this more cleverly and intelligently. I’m not a horror movie writer and I could have written something better than this….. There were some scenes that were creepily well done such as the magician scene (although predictable) and a lot of the film’s plot holes don’t do it any justice for believability. It’s a typical teen scream slasher come 2001 ‘13 ghosts’ no brainer flick, with some cutely done mildly creepy scenes. I know people liked scream but come on guys, let’s be honest it’s (the scream franchise) has always a bit crappy and the rip offs that followed haven’t been much better. Poor writing and excessive use of CGI doesn’t do it any favours. The only actress worth anything in this movie (Olwen Fouere) but she has very little screen time snd carries the film to a 5/10 with some fairly half decent lore exposition building. What I did like was the actual artwork on the deck, it inspired me to create a cool looking tarot deck not unlike the one in the movie 😅but other than that if your desperate and you love horror movies and the aged 8 to 20 you may mildly enjoy this. For me aged 42, it was very cheesy (not in a good way) and I predicted most of the scenes before they happened. If your aged over 21/25 + I wouldn’t bother you will be a bit disappointed. Bit of a waste of what could have been an excellent scarefest to remember. Some will rate this 3-4/10 they will probably be correct. Like I said my 5/10 is being generous to the film. Some will rate this 7-8/10 But the 7-8/10 I fear haven’t seen many good horror movies. Just my humble opinion. 😃👍😊 But if your curious give it a watch and give the rating yourself (which will be 4/5/6-10). You have been warned for the mediocrity. If you quite liked the movie 🍿 and you like this sort of thing I recommend 13 ghosts it was done in 2001 and it was much creepier and done a lot better.

Ok so any walking dead / 28 days later fans (the die hard ones) are gonna quite like this. Those that are fans of the survival horror genre. It actually isn’t terrible …. It’s actually not the worst movie in this genre that I have seen I would say with the cliche story it does add some nice entertaining deviations and out of the box thinking. I found myself saying …. Why don’t you just … and then the lead protagonist pretty much did it. This adds a layer of realism to the movie and adds a little realistic charm to it. So the action and improvisation scenes were done quite well. There is a scene where the main protagonist probably puts more effort and risk into certain activities when they don’t need to and this is an attempt I feel to add a sense of extra drama and dynamic to the movie that in real life you probably wouldn’t need to enact out. But overall, however my final verdict for this movie was a solid 6/10. Yeah it’s forgettable, yeah you have seen this before…. But it does bring ‘some’ additional creativity to the genre and you want to know how it pans out. Donald is great, I thought for 88 years old he’s still smashing it like a pro. The main protagonist I thought also did a pretty decent job so some kudos due there albeit a little overacting. But decent overall Solid 6/10 worth one watch if your like me and a bit of a die hard fan of this genre. However other viewers and critics may indulge in a little zombie eye roll throughout …..

It was ok. I’m a lover of movies like this genre (American beauty 9-10) however I felt this was slow and boring mostly, not the cult classic that I had been promised by my friends. It’s not that the movie is especially bad and it gets some things right. There are some interesting take(s) on things to do with time and paradigms dimension shifts etc but it just felt a bit boring to me to be honest and didn’t leave me with much by the end of the movie. Sorry to disappoint but it just wasn’t really my thing. Go watch American beauty (1999) instead it’s quite similar but better in every way.

Wow they didn’t hide behind no cgi or weren’t afraid to show the horrors of real life scenarios in this one. Excellent movie that dares to push you to the limits and beyond. Excellent painful performance from Fass and this movie really shocked me. Very gruesome and awesome to watch defo not one for the feint hearted !
