I loved this movie!!! There are so many themes that are explored and done exceptionally well!! Unlike other critics reviews, I felt that nothing seemed contrived. The movie shows that not all people in jail are "bad" and how in a split second an impulsive act can change many people's lives forever. Other critics compared "The Mustang" to "The Rider," and felt it wasn't as good. I disagree. Although I loved "The Rider," The Mustang had many different messages. And it showed us a glimpse of how our government has a program for prisoners that rehabilitates wild horses (fact) and how that interaction can change one's perspective on life. It was touching and real. And it explored the complexities of a relationship between a father (who committed a vicious act) and his daughter. Those scenes seemed incredibly real. There is some violence and tough to see footage of how a helicopter scares many wild horses into a packed trailer to transport them to a prison. And there is another scene where a horse is out of control and how the "trainer" loses his temper to try to calm down the horse. Despite those unfortunate scenes, I still loved The Mustang!
