First off the book is definitely recommended and makes a good read. It starts out with a lot of promise and the build up to the murders is great. I love the fact that the protagonist is a cop and she provides a very unique ‘unadulterated’ view of not just the crime scene but the wheeling dealing of the police department. A lot of the plot is taken up by the back story and the stuff that led to their differences which is also engaging. Somewhere in the middle of the book the story starts meandering and I think the book could have been sharper of the focus remained on the murders and the real problem of drugs and corruption... that is not drawn out as much as the emotional angle.
