This is the least-romanticized, least-politicized spy series I have ever seen. A world of undercover agents sent out from the Paris bureau. An impressive script, not a word too many. There are some extremely violent scenes, but the series is characterized most often by a low, throbbing him of suspense. The actors are almost irritatingly superb - - it is difficult to remember that these are fictional personalities, and the non-French characters, like the head of the Russian FSB, are fully realized, not just foils. For a look behind the scenes: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Russia, at the often conflicting interests of European countries and the American government, as well as at competing interests within the countries themselves.
