This is just not a great movie. It’s beautiful, poetry gleaming from each scene, and the simple yet powerful love Pakhi & Varun shower on the other… one of the finest Bollywood movie I’ve watched. The portrayal, the acting by each character is laudable especially that of Sonakshi Sinha, by far her best. The cinematography is something that just keeps you binding; from the dusty, colorful village setting of West Bengal to a sombre, greyish second half in Dalhousie reflecting the depressing, sad tone everything is spot on.
This movie is not for those that love fast paced, ‘masala’ driven energetic scenes. This ones for those who want to connect with each frame without worrying for the pace or climax. The movie just slowly grows on you leaving you teary eyed yet somewhat happy with the ending. Hats off to Amit Trivedi for composing one of the finest songs and background score, it just fits with the entire movie like a glove to a hand.
Wouldn’t be an understatement if Lootera was sent as the official entry to the Oscars, its a masterpiece.
