Mim Lo (Mimlo)

What a creepy, weird, overacted film. Two long hours of torture. I admire the work of both Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani, but they were stuck with a bizarre plot and dialogue. Perhaps I missed the entire point?

Very touching, well acted film. Can't say much without spoiling the plot, but a few unexpected twists near the ending.

What an amazing film. A man, so good at his job of wiretapping/electronic spying [this was filmed in 1974, mind you], yet paranoid about his own privacy and security. Gene Hackman was brilliant in his subtle, natural mannerisms. He's good in everything, IMO. All the actors were excellent, well -cast. The sound, the direction, the subtle background music-- just perfection. It was an interesting puzzle to piece together, hearing the tapes played repeatedly, with more revealed by the film's finale. Interesting use of how we LISTEN selectively to what people are really saying. I don't want to give away any spoilers, just watch it. People who complain that it is too slow-moving are spoiled by having everything spelled out for them simplistically in mediocre movies and television. It's fun to use one's brain!

It was unrealistic, but fun and romantic. JLo is a pretty good actress, and Ralph Fiennes...O M G. The supporting roles were well-cast, Stanley Tucci and Natasha Richardson were particularly funny.

Lame, fake Hitchcock wanna-be. At least the acting was good. But the plot was ridiculous, as were the characterizations. A few laughs because it was SO bad.

Well-acted, but the jumping back and forth in time was annoying and confusing. Also, Prof. Bhaer is supposed to be German, not French!! Some of the dialogue was too modern, as well. And I don't believe Jo ever punched Laurie in the book! I was disappointed. Prefer the Winona Ryder version.

It was difficult to watch at times [gore and torture], yet compelling. Loved the black and white cinematography. The actress playing Francisca was excellent, calm and cold-blooded. There were a few unanswered questions. How did she buy food, pay electric bill, etc? How did "Charlie" live so long in that environment? What happened to the young woman who came home with her from the bar? I have an idea!😬

I was irritated by the Southern accents that came and went. Sometimes Kidman had it, then sounded Australian, or British. Visually beautiful, but a bit slow-going.
